Cadets and USBands Launch Webinar Series for Music Educators
First Installment of Biweekly Features from World Champion Staff

On the road to amassing ten World Championships, desiging 19 other shows that didn't, and judging thousands of marching band performances, the creative instructional team of The Cadets has had a great deal of experience in the world of marching arts and is excited to share their knowledge, anecdotes and more through new online initiative, The Cadets Education Series, to assist band directors and instructors of all levels of achievement to learn the lessons learned over 30 years in the marching activity.

Beginning Wednesday, February 1 at 9:00PM, and alternating every other Wednesday until June, George Hopkins and members of the Cadets team will present one-hout, interactive webinars on  a variety of topics including: show programming with Hopkins, brass technique with Gino Cipriani, battery percussion with Colin McNutt, front ensemble with Iain Moyer, amplifications and electronics with Gerry Miller, visual design with Jeff Stacktig, color guard design and costuming with Greg Lagola and Bruno Zucala and more.

Registration for each webinar is $10 and you can register at usbands.org. Each segment will be recorded for on demand viewing by subscribers for up to two weeks after the initial program presentation.

"What's more important than the lessons learned winning World Championships, are the lessons we learned when we did not," said George Hopkins, CEO of YEA!, parent organization of The Cadets and founder of USBands in announcing the biweekly series.

"We've seen hundreds of examples either in our own program or the marching bands we've evaluated, where things have gone wrong- or at least have had uniintentional outcomes. We plan to provide an animated presentation with examples of what to do - and what not to do," said Hopkins. "Be prepared to learn more in our action-packed hour than in a month of marching band methods classes," Hopkins remarked jokingly.

The entire line-up for the 2012 Cadets Education Series will be announced in the coming weeks. The first installment schedule for Wednesday, February 1 will feature George Hopkins with a one-hour presentation on Show Design and Programming.
